Synopsis

Malcolm awakes, unsure of where or who he is.  He’s put on edge when a stranger appears, revealing herself to be his wife Helen. Through stories she reminds him of who he is and the man she needs him to be.  As Malcolm regains fragments of his former self she reassures him that the amnesiac state is temporary.

Malcolm is guarded when a man arrives at their door, Helen introduces Ian, their friend who is there to help. As Ian’s stories shed light on other aspects of Malcolm’s life he starts suspecting things aren’t as they seem. Are they telling him everything?

Just as Malcolm’s persona comes into sharper focus, masked intruders put everyone’s lives in danger. The truth will come out, one way or another.

"Fugue is a tense, uneasy thriller that will hook you...It’s brave, and frankly, very impressive for a debut film...an indie version of Panic Room."

- Pop Horror

"If you’re looking for a psychological heist movie that looks great and keeps you on the edge of your seat, Fugue is a refreshing take on the genre."

- Geek Hard

"Un des grands crus du nouveau cinéma de genre canadien."

- Horreur Quebec

"Although Fugue is writer and director Tomas Street’s first feature length, his many years of experience...have clearly helped him to craft layered stories and complicated characters...Keep an eye out for Tomas Street’s next film; he shows incredible promise."

- Vaugue Visages • Wave Faces, International Film Criticism & Outlier Culture

"...a great level of craftsmanship and execution and pacing"

- Tranquil Dreams
